Yarrow Gardening offers fine gardening, thoughtful design, and small-scale installations throughout the East Bay. Rooted in organic practices and an understanding of plants, our work brings together beauty, function, and the natural environment.

From seasonal care and garden restoration to planting plans and custom installations, we approach every space with intention—considering how it grows, changes, and thrives over time.

  • Getting to know our clients and understanding their vision for the space. From there, we assess the garden’s existing conditions and develop short- and long-term plans that balance what the client wants with what the garden can naturally support

  • We work with homeowners and businesses who value thoughtful garden care and understand that a garden requires ongoing attention. We appreciate clients who embrace the natural rhythms of gardening, finding beauty in imperfection and welcoming the changes that come with each season.

  • Astrid

    OWNER

    Born and raised in Berkeley, Astrid has been gardening professionally since 2013. With a love for color, texture, and composition, she enjoys exploring the creative side of gardening and design.

    In 2022, Astrid founded Yarrow Gardening with her partner, Natalie. After Natalie moved back to Switzerland in 2024, Astrid has continued to grow Yarrow alongside a wonderful team of women who share her love of plants, creativity, and thoughtful garden care.

    With over a decade of gardening experience, and a background in Interior Design and Interior Architecture through UC Berkeley Extension, Astrid and the Yarrow team create natural, timeless spaces that feel personal to each home—while providing the ongoing care that keeps them beautiful for years to come.

  • Virginia

    LEAD GARDENER

    Virginia is a California native who grew up in the mountains of Costa Rica, Central America. All her life she has been a lover of nature, chasing after the deep wilds of the world. She is a traveler at heart and has worked as a gardener and farmer in many countries, training her into a hard and dedicated worker who loves to get her hands dirty in the satisfying work of a garden project.  Her passion for plants lead her to study medicinal herbs at the Elderberry School of Botanical Medicine in Portland, OR, and she now has a love of turning California native plants into healing balms and oils. She has been working as a gardener with this team since 2019 where she has advanced in installations of gardens, pruning, soil health, and native plant knowledge. She loves to create a balance of wild yet neat gardens that promote native plants and edibles.

  • Kahyela

    SENIOR GARDENER

    Kahyela, a Bay Area native, has been with Yarrow since 2023. Before joining the team, Kahyela completed a permaculture course, focusing on designing sustainable and regenerative gardens. She lets nothing go to waste as she is passionate about Mother Earth, and is a lover of all living organisms. Her optimism and determination in the garden is valued at Yarrow, and not to mention she is a natural at making potted arrangements and has an eye for aesthetically pleasing plant design.
